Russia – Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of August 30, 2016

Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of August 30, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone in eastern Ukraine intensified again, as the number of Russian hybrid forces’s attacks increased over the last day to 91, including: 25 on Luhansk direction, 46 on Donetsk direction and 20 on Mariupol direction; Russian occupiers released in total 290 mortar mines and 250 artillery shells upon Ukrainian troops positions over the past day;

(2) Luhansk direction: the hottest spots reported in Popasna, Zolote, Krymske, Zhovte and Stanytsya Luhanska; Russian sniper fire reported in the area of Bahmut root and Popasna;

(3) Donetsk direction: there were no calm places on this direction over the last day; the hottest spots reported in Avdiivka industrial area, Svitlodarsk and Donetsk airport; Russian forces used tanks and artillery at Butovka mine – Opytne – Pisky front line; Russian forces fired with cannons in Keramik, which is located 15 km far from the front; massive Russian artillery shelling took place at the north Horlivka suburbs;

(4) Mariupol direction: Russian forces launched powerful attacks with the use of mortar launchers all across the frontline as well as used forbidden and massive BM-21 Grad fire in Krasnogorivka; the enemy released about 60 mortar mines at Pavlopil during 1-hour attack; another case of mortar fire use reported in Taramchuk;

(5) 3 Russian UAVs were spotted over the sky in the war zone in eastern Ukraine for the last day, in particular: 2 – on Luhansk direction (Popasna and Schastya) and 1- on Donetsk direction;

(6) Russia’s armed forces and their proxies losses in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours: 6 killed and 13 wounded;

(7) 1 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in action and 9 servicemen were wounded in action in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
