The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the creation of a mechanism for transferring destroyed Russian captured military equipment to museums in foreign countries. As part of the initiative, captured T-72 tanks are planned to be transferred to museums in five countries.
This was reported by Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, according to Oboronka.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the initiative concerns captured military equipment seized or obtained during efforts to repel Russian aggression. The equipment will be transferred to foreign museums free of charge for use as museum exhibits or for exhibitions.
“In particular, museums in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark and the Netherlands will receive captured T-72 tanks at their disposal for use in exhibitions,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Defence added that the equipment is no longer operational, contains no explosive elements and can be displayed to visitors.
The decision was made at the initiative of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Culture.
“Such exhibitions abroad will help convey objective information about the course of Ukraine’s struggle for independence and provide the international community with tangible evidence of the war,” the ministry said.
The Ministry of Defence also expects such exhibitions to contribute to the development of cultural diplomacy and cooperation with foreign museum institutions.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defence launched the state-run TrophyLab portal, through which manufacturers, engineers, researchers, laboratories and international partners can gain access to captured Russian military equipment to study its weaponry.
