Russian drone strike hits Mykolaiv recreation site, killing a child and injuring 10 people, including multiple children.

A Russian drone strike targeted a civilian recreation area in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region, leaving one child dead and at least 10 people injured, most of them children, according to local authorities.

The attack occurred in the Voznesensk community of Mykolaiv district, where a popular public leisure site came under fire. The strike and subsequent falling debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle caused массові casualties among civilians gathered at the location.

Among the injured are two women, aged 40 and 18, as well as eight children — five girls and three boys between the ages of 10 and 16. All victims were immediately hospitalized following the attack.

By the morning, medical officials reported that a 40-year-old woman and two girls, aged 13 and 15, were in critical condition. The remaining six injured children were described as being in moderate condition.

Tragically, one of the victims — a 13-year-old girl — later died in hospital from injuries sustained during the strike.

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, confirmed the details of the attack and its casualties, emphasizing the severity of the situation and the fact that children were among the primary victims.

“This was a strike on a civilian location where people were отдыхing,” officials noted, highlighting the continued danger posed to non-military areas.

The attack also caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure. According to preliminary reports, three private homes, three shops, and at least one vehicle were damaged as a result of the explosion and falling debris.

The strike took place in the evening, a time when families and children were present at the recreation area, amplifying the human toll of the incident.

This latest attack underscores an ongoing pattern of drone strikes targeting civilian areas far from active front lines. The increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles has allowed Russian forces to carry out frequent attacks with little warning, often resulting in injuries and fatalities among civilians.

Emergency services responded quickly, transporting the wounded to nearby hospitals and securing the affected area. Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage and provide support to the victims and their families.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the vulnerability of civilian populations amid ongoing hostilities, particularly in southern regions of Ukraine that remain within reach of drone and missile strikes.

As investigations continue, local officials urge residents to remain cautious and to follow air raid alerts, which remain a critical tool in reducing casualties during such attacks.

The death of the 13-year-old girl has added to the growing number of civilian casualties in the region, serving as a stark reminder of the human cost of the war.
