A Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv has left at least two people dead, including a 12-year-old boy, and injured 18 others, according to emergency services.

The overnight strike caused widespread damage across several districts of the city, hitting residential buildings, offices, and civilian infrastructure.

In the Podilskyi district, a non-residential building was directly struck, while debris from intercepted missiles fell across multiple locations. In one residential building, a fire broke out on the first floor. Another high-rise suffered shattered windows, and a nearby three-story mini-hotel was partially destroyed, with surrounding homes also damaged.

In a separate incident, missile debris hit the sixth floor of a 16-story residential building. Despite the impact, no fire was reported. Elsewhere in the district, a private home was partially destroyed. Emergency responders rescued a woman and her child from under the rubble.

In the Obolonskyi district, an office building was damaged, triggering fires in the structure and nearby parked vehicles. During a secondary strike, four medics responding to the scene were injured—highlighting the continued risks faced by first responders during repeated attacks.

In the Dniprovskyi district, missile debris was discovered in an open area, while in the Desnianskyi district, falling fragments caused a fire in a two-story residential building.

Additional debris landed in the Shevchenkivskyi district, including near a residential building and on a children’s playground. No fires were reported at those locations.

Medical officials confirmed that 11 of the injured were hospitalized, while others received treatment on-site or outpatient care.

Emergency services continue to operate across the affected areas, working to extinguish fires, clear debris, and assess structural damage.

The attack underscores the ongoing threat to civilian areas in Ukraine’s capital, even as air defenses intercept many incoming targets. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly warned that missile and drone strikes remain a daily risk, targeting both infrastructure and densely populated neighborhoods.
