Valerii Zaluzhnyi calls for deeper Ukrainian-British defence cooperation, joint manufacturing, investment in research and technology, and affordable weapons that meet the real needs of war.
Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and ambassador to the United Kingdom, believes that establishing industrial cooperation between British and Ukrainian manufacturers is a priority for Ukrainian diplomats, investors, and defence companies.
He reported this on Telegram, according to Censor.NET.

“All this demonstrates the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, which benefits both countries and helps strengthen our joint defence capabilities. Various exhibitions of new types of weapons organised by our partners with the participation of Ukrainian manufacturers also contribute to this,” the diplomat emphasised.
According to him, strong partnerships and effective alliances are needed.

“Partnerships based not on empty promises and magical weapons that do not exist, but on real strength and experience that has cost thousands of lives. I always emphasise in meetings with British government officials and manufacturers that we must produce today what will be needed tomorrow.
The defence industry must meet the real needs of war, rather than marketing demands, and ensure that we have the weapons we need regardless of external circumstances,” Zaluzhnyi explained.
Therefore, the ambassador noted, technologies must be developed and made cheaper, as weapons of attack cannot be 100 times cheaper than means of defence.

“We need to build manufacturing facilities together. Investment must flow not only into industry but also into science, applied research, and specialist training. We need a long-term strategy, not isolated projects, and that is precisely what we are working on with the United Kingdom.
We must act together now. This is not just about our ability to withstand the war, but also about whether our children will be able to live in peace,” he concluded.
