Zelenskyy discussed de-escalation, energy infrastructure protection, and preparations for November’s trilateral meeting with Finnish and Norwegian leaders following their call with Putin.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre following their conversation with Vladimir Putin. He announced this on October 27.

The conversation also continued discussions held in Oslo with representatives of the United States, Europe, and NATO. Zelenskyy thanked his partners for the detailed briefing and their active efforts “to support our diplomacy and joint peace efforts with all our partners.” This was reported by Radio Svoboda.

“Alex and Jonas clearly told the Russian leader that real steps toward de-escalation targeting our energy sector and infrastructure are needed. We discussed preparations for the trilateral meeting scheduled for November at the team level — Ukrainian, American, and Russian,” he said.

The president highlighted Finland’s and Norway’s particular interest, as countries bordering Russia, in “the right and reliable security solutions.” The parties also discussed various formats for engagement between Kyiv and its European partners that could help further support diplomacy and collective security.

Støre and Stubb, in turn, reported having had a “good conversation” with the Ukrainian president, during which they discussed their earlier call with Putin.

“Norway and Finland will continue to support Ukraine and efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace,” both leaders said.

On October 27, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre held a phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to discuss Russia’s war against Ukraine.
