Ukraine Receives 1,000 Bodies Allegedly Belonging to Ukrainian Soldiers, Russia Claims

Ukraine has managed to repatriate another 1,000 bodies of the fallen, which, according to the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian servicemen.

Source: a statement by the Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War. This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda.

Quote: “Today (January 29 – ed.), repatriation measures took place as part of which 1,000 bodies (remains) of the fallen were returned to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, belong to Ukrainian defenders.”

Details: Ukrainian investigators and forensic experts will now work on identifying the repatriated remains.

Background:

This is the first return of the remains of fallen Ukrainians in 2026.

On December 19, 2025, Ukraine repatriated 1,003 bodies which, according to the Russian side, belonged to Ukrainian servicemen.
