Russian forces attacked Sumy region overnight, damaging homes, cars and railway infrastructure, hitting a Wagon of Invincibility; fires were extinguished and train traffic restored.
On the night of February 5, Russian forces attacked Sumy region, including the regional center. Residential buildings and cars were damaged.
According to Lb.ua, this was reported by the State Emergency Service. Later, Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba wrote that a station duty officer who was on her way to work came under fire. The strike also hit the “Invincibility Carriage.”
In Sumy, the blast wave shattered windows in multi-apartment residential buildings and damaged vehicles. The State Emergency Service said that, together with volunteers and municipal workers, rescuers are carrying out emergency recovery operations. A mobile heating point has been set up so that people can warm up and have hot tea.

In the Shostka community, an enemy attack caused a fire in a non-residential building. While extinguishing the fire, rescuers had to retreat to a safe area several times due to the threat of repeated strikes. State Emergency Service specialists eliminated all remaining fire hotspots.
According to Kuleba, Russian forces struck the “Wagon of Invincibility” in Shostka district, which had been placed in the community to provide heating for residents. People were sheltering at the time. Railway buildings and a locomotive were also damaged. Despite the attack, as soon as the security situation allowed, railway workers resumed train operations.

The railway’s energy infrastructure in the area also came under targeted shelling.
In addition, the enemy struck a railway station in Okhtyrka district with drones. Technical facilities and tracks were damaged. Restoration work is underway.
