The restaurant “Tatar Bunar” by Ukrainian restaurateurs Alex Cooper and Anna Andrienko in London has been added to the list on the Michelin Guide website.

This is the first step toward earning Michelin stars or a Bib Gourmand distinction. According to kp.ua, this was reported by Forbes Ukraine.

The Michelin Guide included “Tatar Bunar” in its “Notable Restaurants” section. According to the guide, the London establishment, which opened in 2025 in Shoreditch, has given a fresh impulse to the local dining scene.

The guide notes that the restaurant’s interior resembles a “stylish showroom of Ukrainian ceramics” more than a traditional restaurant, featuring a long open kitchen and a spacious dining area with a cozy covered terrace in the backyard.

According to the guide, dishes at the restaurant are best ordered for sharing – they are “generous both in size and in flavor.” The Michelin Guide highlights the slightly sweet pickled tomatoes with lemon yogurt, which have already become a “must-try,” while the banosh with braised beef cheeks is described as “comfort food that wraps you in warmth.”

In August 2025, London’s Tatar Bunar was featured in Bloomberg’s Five Top Tables section.

The Michelin Guide is an international restaurant guide that evaluates establishments through anonymous inspectors and publishes annual and regional restaurant selections. Ratings come in different forms: stars (1–3), Bib Gourmand (best quality at a reasonable price), Recommended, or simply inclusion in the guide (a note that the restaurant is worth visiting), as well as special distinctions such as the Green Star for sustainability or New Entry/Added/Hot & New for notable new restaurants.

Being included in the guide signifies recognition by Michelin’s anonymous inspectors based on criteria such as product quality, cooking skill, culinary personality, value for money, and consistency of standards.

Alex Cooper is the managing partner of the food hall Kyiv Food Market and co-owner of Crimean Tatar cuisine restaurants Selyam, as well as establishments Kacho e Pepe, Tachinomi, Shalom, GiviToMe, Baba Ganush, Natalka, Porto Franco, and Tatar Bunar in Odesa and London.

Together with ceramic artists Svitlana Sholomitska and Ivan Kozik, in February 2026 he opened the Sholomitska ceramics store in Kyiv. Sholomitska’s tableware is also featured in the London restaurant Tatar Bunar and is available for purchase.
