A wave of explosions lit up occupied Crimea overnight as drones targeted airfields, power infrastructure, and possibly an oil depot—triggering widespread air defense fire.
This was reported by the Telegram channel “Krymskyi Veter,” citing local residents.
A wave of explosions and sustained air defense activity was reported overnight across Russian-occupied Crimea, signaling what appears to be a large-scale drone strike targeting multiple strategic sites.
According to local reports cited by the Telegram channel Krymskyi Veter, the attacks unfolded during the night of April 14 and lasted for several hours, with residents across the peninsula describing continuous drone activity and anti-aircraft fire.
In Simferopol, witnesses reported Russian forces firing at aerial targets with machine guns. Gunfire was heard in several districts, including near Lesia Ukrainka Street and the nearby village of Donske. Residents described both the distinct buzzing of drones and the passage of heavier aerial objects producing deeper, unfamiliar sounds.
Two powerful explosions were reported near the Tavriiska thermal power plant, followed by sustained gunfire in the area. Additional blasts and air defense activity were recorded near the Hvardiiske military airfield, a known strategic site.
Anti-aircraft systems, including Pantsir units, were reportedly active in the areas of Myrne and Shkilne. Explosions were also observed along the southern coastline, with flashes seen over the Black Sea.
Another major explosion was recorded near Hvardiiske, where preliminary reports suggest a possible strike on an oil depot. The scale and distribution of the blasts indicate a coordinated drone raid spanning multiple locations across the peninsula.
Explosions were not limited to Simferopol. Residents in Feodosia and Kerch also reported blasts, reinforcing indications of a widespread aerial operation targeting infrastructure across occupied Crimea.
As of now, there have been no official statements from Russian-installed authorities regarding the incidents or potential damage. Further details are expected as assessments continue.
The overnight events follow earlier reports of explosions in occupied Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region, where a drone strike reportedly caused a fire at an electrical substation and led to partial power outages.
The situation remains fluid, with verification of targets and damage ongoing.
