Recently, Oksana Katerusha suffered the loss of her husband, and now her only daughter has been left an orphan.
According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the institute’s building sustained damage between the 3rd and 5th floors, but despite the attack, the facility continues to operate. It was reported by Vechirniy Kyiv.
All emergency services were on site, and investigations and damage assessments are ongoing.
But the most painful loss is the death of the nurse and a patient.
As a result of the enemy attack on Kyiv on Sunday, September 28, nurse Oksana Katerusha of the Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine was killed at her workplace.
During the mass evacuation of patients, most were taken to the shelter. One patient felt unwell, and Oksana went back up to the ward to examine and assist him. At that moment, a “Shahed” struck the very ward.
Oksana Ivanivna was a graduate of the Pohrebyshche Medical College in Vinnytsia region.
“May the kind, bright memory of Oksana Ivanivna forever remain in the hearts of her family, colleagues, and all who knew, loved, and respected her,” her colleagues wrote about her.
She is survived by her daughter, sister, and parents.
Despite the difficult circumstances, the Institute continues to operate as usual, the administration noted. Doctors, nurses, and all other staff members are providing the necessary specialized care to patients.
“Our mission is to save lives. No circumstances will ever force us to abandon this duty. The Institute’s team is more united than ever and ready to work for the health of Ukrainians,” the medical institution wrote in a statement on Facebook.
