Russian drone strikes in Odesa region killed a woman, injured her three children, halted Odesa–Reni highway traffic, and caused prolonged energy outages, prompting a state-level emergency declaration.

People are being urged to avoid traveling toward the bridge in the Dniester Estuary area near the village of Mayaky.

Today, the occupying Russian army struck a civilian vehicle in the Odesa region — a woman was killed and three children were injured.

This was reported by UNIAN.

According to Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper, on December 18 the enemy attacked the Odesa district with strike drones, one of which hit a civilian car crossing the bridge. The official said the vehicle carried a woman and her three children. The mother suffered severe injuries and died in the ambulance.

“Her three children were taken to the hospital with bodily injuries and acute stress reactions. Medical staff are providing the necessary care. I extend my sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. This is yet another cynical war crime by Russia — a strike on civilians,” Kiper said.

He added that drivers are advised to avoid traveling toward the bridge in the Dniester Estuary area near the village of Mayaky, as the enemy has already attacked this section three times.

According to the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the deceased was a 43-year-old woman, and her children — a 20-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy, and a 4-year-old girl — were injured. It was reported that earlier in the day, the occupiers attacked a village in the Odesa region with strike drones, damaging a critical infrastructure facility and the car in which the family was traveling.

Additionally, Kiper noted that traffic on the Odesa–Reni highway has been temporarily stopped in both directions. Information about the resumption of traffic will be provided later. People are asked, if possible, to avoid using this section of the road.

At the same time, a video of the strike that killed the woman has appeared on social media. According to some reports, the woman who died was 40 years old.

Later, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that in Odesa region, due to a Russian airstrike, access to certain border checkpoints with Moldova has been restricted.

“As a result of the Russian Federation’s attack on a critical infrastructure facility, traffic on the Odesa–Reni highway has been suspended. We recommend that citizens refrain from traveling in this direction until the situation stabilizes,” the SBGS emphasized.

How Russia is Terrorizing Odesa Region

As UNIAN reported, a state-level emergency has been declared in Odesa region due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper stated that the decision was made at a meeting of the commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations within the Odesa regional administration.

The decision was prompted by the consequences of recent Russian attacks on energy facilities, which led to prolonged — over three days — disruption of normal living conditions for tens of thousands of residents in the region.
