Russia – Ukraine war latest updates from the General Staff of Ukraine as of August 30, 2026.
On the 1,649th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine’s Defence Forces reported 221 combat clashes as Russian troops fired five missiles, carried out 79 air strikes with 292 guided bombs, launched 11,357 kamikaze drones and conducted more than 3,100 attacks. Ukrainian units struck enemy concentrations, artillery and UAV control points, inflicting about 1,400 personnel losses plus dozens of tanks, guns and vehicles and nearly 2,000 drones, with the heaviest fighting on the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk axes, where 31 and 30 assaults were repelled.
Operational Update as of 08:00 AM on Russian invasion of Ukraine
Yesterday the russian occupiers launched four missile strikes using five missiles and carried out 79 air strikes, dropping 292 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the invaders employed 11,357 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,138 attacks on populated areas and the positions of our troops, 60 of them with multiple-launch rocket systems.
Enemy artillery fire hit, among other places, the settlements of Neskuchne, Korenok, Potapivka, Mala Korchakivka, Volfyne, Atinske, Sopych, Bachivsk and Tovstodubove in Sumy region, and Liskivshchyna in Chernihiv region.
Over the past day, aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Defence Forces struck 14 areas of concentration of enemy manpower, seven artillery systems, six UAV control points and three other important enemy objects.
Frontline situation
The North Slobozhansky and Kursk directions
8:00 AM: five combat engagements were recorded. The aggressor also carried out 167 attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas and launched two air strikes using five KABs.
The South Slobozhansky direction
8:00 AM: Ukrainian units repelled 10 russian attacks. The invaders tried to advance toward Lyman, Hrafske, Chuhunivka, Ozerne and Khatnie and in the area of Starytsia.
The Kupiansk direction
8:00 AM: There were two russian offensive actions toward Radkivka and Podoly.
Lyman direction
8:00 AM: Attempts to break through Ukrainian defences were repelled on the Lyman direction, where the russian occupiers attacked nine times in the areas of Novoselivka and Cherneshchyna and near Lyman and Dibrova.
Sloviansk direction
8:00 AM: On the Sloviansk direction the enemy carried out 8 assaults in the areas of Kryva Luka, Riznykivka and Zakitne and toward Orikhuvatka.On the Kramatorsk direction the Russian invaders conducted no assault actions.
Kostiantynivka direction
8:00 AM: On the Kostiantynivka direction 31 attacks were recorded. The invaders assaulted in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Novoselivka, Rusyn Yar, Toretske and Sofiivka and toward Mykolaipillia and Kucheriv Yar.
Pokrovsk direction
8:00 AM: The enemy carried out 30 attacks on the Pokrovsk direction, trying to advance toward Bilytske, Shevchenko, Novohryshyne, Vasylivka, Serhiivka, Novopidhorodne and Novyi Donbas and in the areas of Udachne, Horikhove and Novomykolaivka.
Oleksandrivka direction
8:00 AM: On the Oleksandrivka direction the enemy launched four attacks toward Berezove.
Huliaipole direction
8:00 AM: On the Huliaipole direction the russian occupiers attacked Ukrainian defenders’ positions 10 times, trying to advance toward Vozdvyzhivka, Huliaipilske, Charivne, Novoselivka, Kalynivske, Nove Zaporizhzhia and Maliivka.
Orikhiv direction
8:00 AM: On the Orikhiv direction our defenders stopped three enemy attempts to advance in the areas of Pavlivka and Mala Tokmachka.
Prydniprovske direction
8:00 AM: On the Prydniprovske direction the enemy conducted no assault actions over the past day.
Volyn and Polissia directions
8:00 AM: On the Volyn and Polissia directions no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groupings were detected.
In total, Russian invaders’ losses over the past day amounted to 1,400 personnel. Also destroyed were one tank, seven armoured combat vehicles, 59 artillery systems, two multiple-launch rocket systems, one air-defence asset, six ground robotic systems, 1,963 unmanned aerial vehicles, 394 vehicles and six pieces of special equipment.
