A series of explosions rocked occupied Crimea overnight on August 21, with more than 15 blasts reported in Simferopol and several cities left without electricity.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the monitoring Telegram channel “Crimean Wind” and reports from the local “authorities.”

Explosions in Simferopol and Sevastopol

Channel subscribers reported the highest number of explosions in the Simferopol area. More than 15 explosions were heard there in a short period of time.

Bright flashes were recorded near the Tavriiska Thermal Power Plant. Eyewitnesses also reported seeing jet-powered drones flying over Simferopol toward the power plant.

Explosions and gunfire targeting aerial objects continued in different parts of the peninsula almost until dawn.

The events unfolded as follows:

01:16 — more than 15 explosions were counted in Simferopol within 20 minutes.

01:32 — a series of explosions was reported in Simferopol district.

01:58 — bright flashes were seen near the Tavriiska Thermal Power Plant, accompanied by explosions and gunfire.

Following massive strikes on the peninsula’s energy infrastructure, a number of settlements in Crimea were left without electricity, according to “Krymenenerhoinform.”

The so-called “Crimean authorities” have not yet commented on the situation.

What preceded the attack on Crimea

It will be recalled that on the night of August 16, Ukrainian naval forces attacked the launch positions of the scarce Bastion coastal missile system near Rezervne.

The Russian military uses this system to launch Oniks and Zyrcon missiles at Ukrainian territory.

Meanwhile, on August 20, Crimea experienced a similar blackout: following explosions overnight in Sevastopol, the cities of Sevastopol, Simferopol, and Dzhankoi were left without electricity, while the partisan movement Atesh claimed responsibility for the attack.
