Donald Trump has returned to the White House. Having repeatedly spoken about ending the war in Ukraine, Western journalists report that he will soon hold negotiations with Vladimir Putin.
Donald Trump may speak with Putin “very soon,” according to the 24 Kanal, citing Sky News.
The U.S. president seeks dialogue
During his election campaign, Donald Trump pledged to end the war in Ukraine “within 24 hours” of taking office. However, as expected, this did not happen.
Nevertheless, the new U.S. President has signaled his intention to initiate dialogue with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia to achieve peace talks.
Trump stated that his administration is already in communication with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and that he will “very soon” speak with President Putin.
The Republican described the Russian president as “smart” and noted that they share a “strong mutual understanding.”
However, Trump also mentioned that the U.S. might impose additional sanctions on Russia if Vladimir Putin refuses to engage in negotiations.
