During the recent massive missile attack on Ukraine on January 26, 2023 Russia used Kh-47M2 Kinzhal (“Dagger”) hypersonic missiles to strike infrastructure facilities in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia.
This was announced by Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat on the air of the national telethon:
“They have very few of these missiles, and they save them to hit the “most important strategic targets”. This time, unfortunately, one of the “most important strategic targets” is the facility in Zaporizhzhia and one of the energy infrastructure facilities in Kyiv. This is their “strategic goal” — to leave people, some district of Kyiv, without electricity,” he said.
The russian forces launched 55 air and sea-based missiles (Kh-101, Kh-555, X-47 “Kinzhal”, “Kalibr”, Kh-59) from Tu-95, Su-35, MiG-31K aircraft and ships from the water area Black Sea.
This information was officially confirmed by Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
