Zelenskyy and Erdoğan discussed Black Sea security, a grain corridor, food security, joint economic projects, and increased Turkish supplies of generators and energy equipment.
“We had an important and substantive meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It is symbolic that our meeting took place on International Black Sea Day. A significant part of our discussion focused on issues related to the Black Sea,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Telegram on the evening of October 31, according to OstroV.
“We discussed some new ideas and proposals with President Erdoğan that could help. This also concerns food security. Today, we agreed with President Erdoğan to work on a Black Sea grain corridor to ensure that the corridor operates effectively,” Zelenskyy noted.
“We are preparing new joint industrial and other economic projects. The free trade agreement between our countries has entered into force, opening up new opportunities for Ukrainian and Turkish businesses. We also have significant potential in energy and infrastructure, which we discussed as well. We met with representatives of Turkish energy companies, and we expect increased supplies of generators and other energy equipment as early as next week,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.
He said he was grateful to President Erdoğan for clear and meaningful cooperation and for Türkiye’s readiness to support all promising ideas aimed at bringing about lasting peace and security.
As previously reported, the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Türkiye discussed restoring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.
