Energy Sector Corruption
Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Bureau has declared businessman Tymur Mindich and alleged money-laundering coordinator Oleksandr Tsukerman wanted as key suspects in the high-profile “Midas” case.
Denys Shtilerman, co-owner and chief designer of Fire Point, acknowledged that corruption suspect Tymur Mindich sought a 50% stake in the company. He also confirmed that Ihor Fursenko – featured in NABU and SAPO’s “Midas” tapes – previously worked at Fire Point.
Timur Mindich, once a shadowy but influential figure, emerges at the center of a sweeping corruption scheme that spans government agencies, seized assets, and high-ranking officials. Ukrainska Pravda’s year-long investigation uncovers covert meetings, operational license plates, secret offices, and a network involving ARMA, Sensbank, and top ministers allegedly tied to Mindich’s financial curator, Oleksandr Zukerman.
The High Anti-Corruption Court is selecting a preventive measure for former Vice Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov. In the wiretaps released by NABU, Chernyshov was referred to as “CheGuevara” as part of operational secrecy.
NABU and SAPO have served another President Zelenskyy’s friend the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov with a motion seeking a preventive measure in the form of detention withing the Mindich case.
NABU and SAPO raided Timur Mindich’s Kyiv apartments, uncovering surveillance devices and links to corruption. Close presidential ties shielded Chernyshov, while embezzlement schemes and offshore funds continue.
The Ukrainian government moved against corruption in Energoatom: Mindich and associates face sanctions, Basov jailed, Halushchenko suspended, and supervisory board members resigned or were dismissed.
Wiretaps from NABU and SAPO reveal Timur Mindich, aka “Carlson,” discussing the freezing of a massive Kozyn construction project funded with hundreds of thousands from an Energoatom kickback scheme. The recordings link former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov, nicknamed “Che Guevara,” to the luxury mansions, showing close ties between Mindich, Chernyshov, and the President’s Office.
During a special operation codenamed “Midas,” detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have identified the leader of a large-scale criminal organization – Timur Mindich – a figure known as “Karlson”.
Ruslan Magamedrasulov, a NABU investigator detained by the SBU in July, gathered evidence in a high-profile corruption case in Ukraine’s energy sector, sources at the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
NABU and SAP after 15 months of investigation and over 1,000 hours of audio recordings, anti-corruption detectives have uncovered the operations of a high-level criminal organization.
