Russia Launches Massive Drone Attack on Odesa: Dozens Injured, Homes Destroyed

Russia struck Odesa overnight with attack drones, damaging multiple buildings. SES rescued 14 people, including three children. Fires broke out, and rescue operations continue.

On the night of January 27, the Russian army struck Odesa. Many people are already known to have been injured, and there is significant damage to civilian infrastructure. This was reported by Serhii Lysak, head of the city military administration, according to elitexpert.ua.

According to Lysak, the shelling damaged apartment buildings and private homes, an infrastructure facility, a shop, and a construction site, as well as a church building in the city center and a kindergarten; large-scale fires broke out.

“SES personnel rescued people from blocked premises, including a child. Many residents have been evacuated,” the official said.

He emphasized that the most difficult situation is at one location in the Khadzhibeyskyi district, where part of a residential building has been destroyed.

“Preliminarily, there may be people under the rubble. Search and rescue operations are not stopping for a minute. All emergency services and operational headquarters are working at the sites. Information is being clarified,” Lysak added.

As a result of the attack, 22 people were injured, 14 of them with minor injuries who received medical assistance on the spot.

According to Lysak, all emergency services have been working at the impact sites since the night. Operational headquarters have been deployed. People are being provided with all necessary assistance. Lysak added that utility service workers are eliminating the consequences of the attack. Residents of damaged buildings are being helped with paperwork to receive compensation under the state eVidnovlennia program, as well as from the city budget.

According to the press service of the regional SES headquarters, Russia carried out a massive strike on Odesa with attack drones overnight. In total, over 10 impact sites were recorded. As a result of the attack, a two-story residential building was damaged, and an apartment on the second floor of another two-story residential building was destroyed. Apartments on the 2nd to 4th floors of a four-story building were also destroyed, and a strike on a nine-story building caused a fire on the 4th and 5th floors.

“A cultural and religious facility was damaged. Windows in neighboring buildings at the impact sites were broken. Vehicles were damaged. Fourteen people were rescued, including three children,” the SES report said.

Rescue workers added that residents of the damaged apartments have been evacuated to Points of Invincibility. According to preliminary information, two children are among the injured. SES and National Police psychologists are working on-site. Heating points have been set up by local authorities. More than 160 rescue workers have been involved in eliminating the consequences of the enemy attacks.

“Preliminarily, three people may be under the rubble. Emergency rescue operations are ongoing. The canine service has been deployed,” the press service emphasized.
