Ukraine’s women’s ice hockey team defeated Belgium 5:1 in Division 2B, securing their third straight World Championship win and leading the standings with strong performances and promotion hopes.
On Thursday, April 2, Ukraine’s women’s national ice hockey team played its third match at the World Championship, competing in Division 2B. This was reported by Champion.
Their opponents were Belgium. The Ukrainian team was considered the clear favorite going into the game, and they proved it on the ice with a confident win over their rivals.
Polina Telegina opened the scoring in the fourth minute, after which 19-year-old Varvara Izmailova doubled the lead for coach Yevhen Alipov’s team.
The Belgian side managed to score one goal in the first period, but that was all they could achieve. In the second 20-minute period, Valeriia Manchak-Jensen restored a comfortable lead.
In the third period, the “blue and yellows” sealed a dominant victory. Tetyana Kyrychenko and Anastasiia Nesterenko both added their names to the scoresheet with goal contributions.
