Ukraine says it carried out sweeping strikes on Russian naval, aviation, drone-control, and logistics targets in occupied territories and inside Russia.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces informs they carried out a new wave of coordinated strikes against Russian military infrastructure, targeting naval assets, drone command centers, air defense systems, fuel logistics, and troop concentrations across occupied territories and inside Russia.
According to the Ukrainian military, operations conducted on May 17 and overnight into May 18 hit “a number of important enemy targets” as Kyiv continues expanding long-range precision strike operations against Russian military capabilities.
Among the most notable targets was a Russian Project 21980 “Grachonok” anti-sabotage patrol boat reportedly struck near Kaspiysk in Russia’s Republic of Dagestan on the Caspian Sea. The vessel type is typically used to protect naval bases and counter underwater sabotage and special operations threats.
Ukraine also said it targeted multiple Russian drone command and control centers in the areas of Rozdolne and Shevchenko in the Donetsk region, Dvorichna in the Kharkiv region, Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region, and Karnatne in Russia’s Bryansk region.
Additional strikes reportedly hit concentrations of Russian personnel in Piddubne in the Donetsk region and Olhyne in the Kherson region.
The Ukrainian military further stated that updated battlefield assessments confirmed several previously reported successful strikes carried out on May 17. These included:
- a communications hub in Myrne in occupied Crimea,
- a Russian Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile system in Zakhidne in occupied Luhansk region,
- and a train echelon carrying fuel and lubricants in Fedorivka in occupied Donetsk region.
Ukraine also claimed that strikes conducted on May 16 against the Yeysk airfield in Russia’s Krasnodar region destroyed a Ka-27 military helicopter and a Be-200 maritime patrol aircraft.
In addition, Kyiv confirmed a successful strike on an airspace monitoring and radar control station in Lesnoye in Russia’s Bryansk region.
The latest attacks reflect Ukraine’s increasingly aggressive strategy of targeting Russian logistics, aviation infrastructure, drone operations, and rear-area military assets far beyond the immediate front line. In recent months, Ukrainian forces have expanded the use of long-range drones and precision strike systems aimed at degrading Russia’s operational capabilities and disrupting supply chains supporting the war effort.
The Russian military has not independently confirmed the reported losses, and some battlefield claims could not immediately be verified.
Still, the breadth of the reported operations highlights Ukraine’s continued focus on asymmetric warfare and deep-strike tactics as both sides intensify military operations heading into the summer campaign season.
“Ukraine’s Defense Forces will continue systematically taking measures aimed at completely stopping Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine,” the Ukrainian military said in a statement.
