Alternative punk project OpCritical has released its latest single and music video, “Liar Liar,” a politically charged anthem aimed at exposing the dangers of oligarchy, manipulation, and the concentration of power.
Released on June 16, the track marks the band’s fifth single of 2026 and continues its mission of using music as a vehicle for civic awareness and democratic values.
A Punk-Rock Warning About Power and Deception
Built around a driving blend of punk rock, alternative rock and electronic textures, “Liar Liar” delivers an uncompromising message about elites who rise to influence through misinformation and then use that power against society.
Its recurring refrain —
“Liar, liar, world’s on fire, everywhere’s a funeral pyre…”
— serves both as a warning and a rallying cry for civic engagement.
According to the anonymous collective behind OpCritical, the song is intended to encourage peaceful protest and democratic participation.
“We have all seen the destructive conduct of oligarchs around the world who amass great wealth and power but refuse to use them to help society,” the band said. “We are calling out those oligarchs and urging citizens to engage in peaceful protest and civic action to hold them accountable.”

Several lyrics reference themes associated with George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, particularly the manipulation of language and the shifting definitions of enemies and allies.
