At the end of last month, Ukrainian Armor successfully tested the new Protector unmanned ground system equipped with the integrated Tavriya‑12.7 remotely controlled combat module.
More about the development of the Protector UGV line was shared by the company’s CEO, Vladyslav Belbas, in an interview with Censor.net.
What is known about the Protector UGV?
According to Vladyslav Belbas, the Protector with a combat module is one of the modifications of this ground robotic system. Initially, it was developed at the request of the USF as a heavy unmanned logistics platform.
“Its operating range exceeds 10 kilometers, allowing it to be controlled from a safe zone. The complex has a payload capacity of one ton, which makes it quite unique — almost one of a kind in its category. One of the Protector’s tasks may be to transport other, smaller UGVs closer to the line of combat engagement to carry out specialized missions,” the CEO emphasized.
He noted that, in addition, the platform can be equipped with laser-based counter‑UAV systems, remotely controlled machine‑gun combat modules, or other unmanned systems, such as interceptors.
Belbas also added that one of the Protector’s advantages is its data transmission range. A strong feature of the system is the use of three redundant types of communication, which ultimately makes it unique.
