At the same time, it is reported that from time to time small enemy groups try to infiltrate the settlement from the Pishchane area along the railway. These units are quickly detected and eliminated, preventing the accumulation of enemy forces in the settlement.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed the “capture” of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, which was denied by Ukrainian forces. Combatant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Kovalyov posted a video from the center of the settlement, showing Ukrainian control and a calm situation.

The Head of the Communications Department of the Joint Forces Group, Viktor Trehubov, stated that Russian troops are attempting to break through the Ukrainian border in the Kharkiv direction, particularly in the areas of Vovchansk and Kupiansk. Attacks are carried out by small groups, indicating limited ability to breach Ukrainian defenses, and heavy equipment is barely used.
The Russian command mistakenly reported the capture of territories in Kupiansk, where fierce fighting continues, reclassifying them as “rear areas.” Due to this error, Russian assault groups were left without fire support, benefiting the Ukrainian forces.
On Monday, January 26, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces successfully conducted an operation in Kupiansk, destroying and capturing Russian soldiers. Ukrainian fighters found the occupiers in a destroyed ATB supermarket, killed two Russian soldiers, and took two more prisoners.
