Russia Strikes Hospital in Kyiv, Causing Casualty: Consequences of the Night Attack on the Capital

On the night of January 5, Russia attacked Ukraine using strike drones. In Kyiv, a medical facility was hit, resulting in one death and several injuries.

This was reported by 24 Kanal, citing the State Emergency Service and the head of the Obolon District Administration, Kyrylo Fesyk.

What are the consequences of the attack on Kyiv?

According to rescuers, during the night attack on January 5 in Kyiv’s Obolon district, a 4-story medical facility was hit. The strike struck the second-floor level, where the inpatient department was operating.

A fire broke out on site, which firefighters extinguished. One person, born in 1995, was killed, and four others were injured in the attack.

According to Kyiv Mayor Klitschko, of the 26 patients in the private clinic, 16 were transferred to the city’s public hospitals after the attack. Two of the injured were hospitalized in serious condition.

Fesyk reported that 70 people were in the medical facility at the time of the shelling.

“Immediately after the all-clear, cleaning will take place, windows in the hospital will be boarded up, and the consequences will be further investigated,”

– said the head of the Obolon District Administration.

Police are documenting the aftermath of the enemy attack.

Also, according to Ukrzaliznytsia, suburban trains in the Kyiv region are experiencing delays.

• Train №6002 Fastiv-1 – Kyiv departed from its starting station with a 54-minute delay,

• Train №6201 Fastiv-1 – Koziatyn-1 is running with a 35-minute delay,

• and train №6003/6203 Kyiv – Koziatyn may also be delayed.

Passengers are urged to follow announcements from dispatchers.

Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the Russian attack. He stated that during the night, the Russian army had “destroyed” another hospital. He also emphasized to partners the importance of air defense systems, funding for interceptor drone production, and equipment for the energy sector.

Which other regions did Russia attack?

• The enemy also struck the Kyiv region. In Fastiv district, one person was killed, and several private houses and an apartment building were damaged.

• Additionally, the city of Slavutych was left without power due to the attacks.

• In Chernihiv region, a business was damaged, and fires broke out in a garage cooperative and a residential building.
