Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of August 17, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman onATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.
(1) Russian hybrid forces opened fire 35 times at Ukrainian troops in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours, including 7 times on Luhansk direction, 21 times on Donetsk direction and 7 times on Mariupol direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: Novooleksandrivka reported asthe hottest spot on this direction, where Russian occupiers actively uased as small arms as well as hard weaponry against Ukrainian troops; Russian proxies shelling also took place in Stanytsya Luhanska, Novozvanivka and Krymske;
(3) Donetsk direction: Russian forces attacks reported all acroos the frontline, but 1/2 of shelling took place in Avdiivka, where the enemy actively used mortar launchers and armored vehicles; tense atmosphere reported also on Svitlodarska line, Butovka mine and the settlement of Nevelske; Russian proxies shelled at the residential areas in Zaytseve which resulted damages; to this end, Russian occupiers released in total 30 mines upon Ukrainian troops positions on this direction;
(4) Mariupol direction: Russian forces launched 50-min long attack with the use of mortars, tanks and 152-mm artillery in Starognativka and released 40 mines upon Ukrainian troops positions; the enemy shelled with forbidden 122-mm artillery and Grad-P missles at Vodyane; Russian occupiers used mortar launchers during shelling in Pavlopol and Chermalyk; to this end, one more Russian attack took place in Maryinka;
(5) 1 Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action and 4 servicemen were wounded in actions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
