The release of contaminated water from a russian sugar factory into the Seym River has caused environmental damage in Ukraine

Pollution of the Seym and Desna rivers in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions has caused damages amounting to 405 million hryvnias. The release of contaminated water from a Russian sugar factory into the Seym River has caused significant environmental damage.

This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Svitlana Hrynchuk, during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee.

The release of contaminated water from a Russian sugar factory into the Seym River has caused significant environmental damage, which Ukraine has been addressing for several weeks.

The polluted water is now moving toward the border with the Kyiv region.

“The situation is under control.

All responsible services are working intensively to minimize the consequences.

The pollution is now less concentrated than it was initially.

By the time it reaches Kyiv, it will be even less concentrated,” Hrynchuk said.

According to Kyivvodokanal, the water treatment facilities in the Kyiv region are prepared to handle this challenge.

If the situation worsens, enhanced water purification technology will be employed, ensuring that the water quality in consumers’ taps remains unaffected.
