17 April, Kyiv, Antonov State Company unveiled a new aircraft AN-178.
The ceremony was attended by government representatives, MPs, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko, several thousand employees of the plant, as well as a lot of viewers.
AN-178 transport aircraft with 18-ton load capacity can be used for military missions, as well as for civilian purposes. It is equipped with self-contained loading facilities.
It is not necessary for AN-178 to land to deliver cargoes – it has the ability to release them in the air.
Moreover, the aircraft may be equipped to transport military and evacuate wounded from the hot spots.
AN-178 can reach speeds of over 800 km/h.
According to the management of Antonov State Company, it is planned to start testing the new aircraft on 7 May 2015
