Russian forces are assaulting Huliaipole and Stepnohirsk in the south frontline, but Ukrainian Defense Forces block advances, destroy enemy units, and maintain control of key positions.

The situation in the south remains difficult due to active assault operations by Russian forces attempting to take control of Huliaipole and Stepnohirsk.

This was stated in a comment to Ukrinform by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.

According to him, in Huliaipole itself, fighting continues on the eastern and northeastern outskirts of the city, where the enemy is trying to advance with assault groups.

“The enemy is attempting to enter the city, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are destroying, blocking, and stopping their progress. The high number of clashes shows that the enemy is storming our positions despite losses,” Voloshyn said.

He added that Russian troops are actively using infiltration tactics, trying to penetrate deeper into populated areas and establish themselves in urban buildings.

“Currently, there are small pockets where the enemy is trying to hold positions in individual buildings, but our units are conducting reconnaissance and assault operations, destroying the enemy and driving them out. They cannot establish themselves in the urban area at this time,” the spokesperson emphasized.

He reported that a similar situation is ongoing near Stepnohirsk.

“Near Stepnohirsk, the enemy is also trying to enter the settlement, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are blocking them on the approaches,” he explained.

As Ukrinform reported, the situation in the south remains challenging, with 56 clashes recorded over the past day.

At the same time, Huliaipole remains under the control of the Defense Forces, with the enemy being destroyed before reaching the city.
