On the night of December 15, long-range strike units of the Special Operations Forces, in coordination with the Unmanned Systems Forces, hit the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant, located near the Caspian Sea. This was reported by the Ukrainian Armed Forces Special Operations Command, writes ZN.ua.

According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, explosions were recorded on the plant’s territory after the attack, and a massive fire broke out. The extent of the damage is being assessed.

The Astrakhan GPP belongs to Gazprom. It is an important enterprise in Russia’s gas chemical infrastructure, affecting the production of fuel and petrochemical products nationwide. In particular, the plant produces up to 3.5 million tons of sulfur annually, which Russian military enterprises use to manufacture explosives.

Earlier, FP-2 type strike drones of the Special Operations Forces hit a train carrying fuel and lubricants for the Russian army and an oil depot in Batumine, near temporarily occupied Yantarne in Crimea. In temporarily occupied Maryanivka, the Special Operations Forces attacked the “Volna-2” electronic warfare station, and near Dokuchaievsk, they struck a training center for FPV drone operators.
