Canada begins confiscation of Russian An-124 aircraft to transfer it to Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Minister of Justice OlJustin Trudeauna has announced that Canada has begun confiscating the Russian An-124 “Ruslan” cargo plane, which belongs to the Volga-Dnepr airline and has been under arrest in Toronto since June 2023. This step sets an important precedent for using frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine.
As a reminder, Canada closed its airspace to Russian aircraft after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated his intention to transfer this plane to Ukraine.
