In Cherkasy, veterans from across Ukraine demand a fair investigation into Nekhvoroshch shooting, accountability for police deaths, and dismissal of the regional police chief.

In Cherkasy, a motorcade organized by veterans from various cities in the region stopped in front of the Regional State Administration (RSA) building. Among their demands is a fair investigation into the shooting in the village of Nekhvoroshch, which resulted in the deaths of four police officers and a veteran, reports the publication “18000.” This was reported by inforesist.org.

An impromptu rally is taking place in front of the Cherkasy RSA. Participants’ demands include a fair and objective investigation of the events in Nekhvoroshch village, Cherkasy district; holding those responsible for the death of veteran Serhiy Rusinov accountable; and returning the veteran’s body to his family for a proper burial.

The protesters’ signs also call for the dismissal of Oleg Hudyma, head of the National Police in Cherkasy region.

As co-organizer Serhiy Koval told Suspilne, people from almost all over the country gathered in Cherkasy to jointly demand an objective investigation of the events:

“Our first demands are to pay attention to veterans, second — to hold the perpetrators accountable, and to remove the regional police chief. This person was in charge, the regional head knew what was happening. He knew what could happen and sent the police there — they were shot, our comrade was also shot and killed, and it hurts.”

The tragedy occurred on January 27 in the Korsun region during an attempt to detain a suspect. According to the police, Serhiy Rusinov opened fire on law enforcement officers, resulting in the deaths of four officers and serious injuries to another. The attacker himself was neutralized by special forces.
