Russia carried out another missile and drone strike on two ports in the Odesa region, killing two people and injuring five. Administrative buildings, cargo, and port infrastructure were damaged.

According to RBC-Ukraine, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Community Development Oleksii Kuleba reported this on Telegram.

Earlier today, Russia launched a combined missile and drone attack on Odesa’s port infrastructure, which plays a key role in ensuring food security for Ukraine and the world.

“One person was killed and five others were injured. They are receiving full medical assistance,” Kuleba said.

Administrative buildings, cargo transport, and containers of oil were damaged. All services are working on site to manage the aftermath while following safety rules.

“The ports continue to operate as usual despite the attack,” the administration added.

Law enforcement is documenting the traces of yet another crime against the peaceful population of the Odesa region. Russia is deliberately trying to undermine the economy and destroy maritime logistics by targeting key port facilities.

“All relevant services are working on site to deal with the aftermath. Law enforcement is recording evidence of another crime against peaceful Odesa,” the Odesa Regional State Administration emphasized.

The death toll from Russia’s strikes on the Odesa region has risen to two.

“Unfortunately, the number of fatalities from the attack has risen to two. Our condolences go to their families and loved ones. Eight more people were injured, all of whom are receiving the necessary medical care,” the Odesa Regional State Administration said.

Attacks on Ports

This is not the first strike on the port infrastructure in the Odesa region. Previously, the enemy carried out missile attacks on Odesa and other regional ports, aiming to block the export of Ukrainian grain and oil.

Despite the constant attacks, Ukrainian ports continue to operate, providing logistics for domestic needs and international partners.

Local services and law enforcement regularly carry out restoration work and document Russia’s war crimes against civilian infrastructure.

Earlier today, December 30, Russian occupiers attacked the Chornomorsk port twice, causing a fire in a lubricant storage tank.

On the same day, Russian forces targeted civilian vessels Emmakris III and Captain Karam with attack drones. Captain Karam was entering a Ukrainian port to load wheat.

These attacks resulted in civilian injuries. The Ukrainian Navy noted that Russia’s strikes undermine global food security.

It was previously reported that Russian attacks damaged facilities at the ports of Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk, including storage tanks for oil at one industrial enterprise.
