The U.S. State Department has halted aid for Ukraine’s energy recovery, – NBC reports.
The decision to stop this assistance was made even before the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. leader Donald Trump on February 28, 2025.
The State Department has ended a USAID initiative that invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help restore Ukraine’s power grid. This aid supported recovery efforts following Russian attacks on the energy system.
“This significantly undermines the administration’s ability to negotiate a ceasefire, and it signals to Russia that we don’t care about Ukraine or our previous investments,” an official from USAID who was involved in the Ukraine mission revealed.
